Coats are cut to wear over a heavy knit. Between two sizes? Take the smaller one in knitwear, the larger one in coats.
We're a small studio by the water. We buy the wool, have it spun and woven, cut each style in one short run and fix what wears out. That's the whole business.

The wool comes from sheep on two salt-marsh farms on the coast. It's washed gently, so some lanolin stays in and rain runs off.

A family mill spins and weaves it, 400 metres at a time. Melton for the coats, flannel for trousers and a looser yarn for the knits.

Each style is cut once a year, 60 to 120 pieces. When a run sells out, it waits for next winter.

Torn seam, worn elbow: send it back and we fix it. Free for the first five years, after that you pay what it costs us.

I have worn the Signal Pea Coat on the ferry for three winters. The elbows went once. It came back with patches I like better than the coat.
