The problem
I wanted a practice server I would play on myself. That meant two things. Your rank should say how good you are with each kit, not one number for everything. And money should never buy an edge: no stronger kits, no faster queues for paying players.
What I built
ZeroPvP runs on Java 1.21.11 at play.zeropvp.xyz. The duels plugin, the website and the bot are mine.
- A ladder per kit. Twelve of them, from Sword, Axe and Mace to Netherite Pot, Cart and Vanilla, plus 2v2. Ten placement matches put you on a kit's ladder.
- Fifteen tiers and global points. Every tier you hold adds points, from 1 for LT5 to 60 for HT1, and the sum is your place on the global board.
- A cup every week. Single elimination, one kit a week, every Saturday at 18:00 Berlin time. Winners go into the Hall of Fame.
- UHC Games. 200 players, one life, no natural regeneration and a closing border.
- A website with the live data. Leaderboards, live matches, tiers, server stats and 90 days of server status, all from the server itself.
- A cosmetic store. Zero and Zero+ ranks bring kill effects, armour trims and name colours. Coins earned by playing buy the same things. Nothing changes a fight.

Numbers
Players online is at the top of this page when the feed answers. The rest:
- Ladders
- 12
- Tiers
- 15
- Placement matches per ladder
- 10
- Players in one UHC Games round
- 200
- Things you can buy that change a fight
- 0
What's next
Players. The ladders, the tiers, the weekly cup and UHC Games all run; what the server needs now is people in the queues. Bedrock players are next on the list: the website already says “Bedrock soon”.
